The sky was overcast; a dark, ominous feeling drifting down on the silent land. No animals, or insects, dare make any noise. As if just the slightest sound would bring the heavens down upon them. Every creature could feel that the rain and lightning was coming, and so remained quiet. Even the wind hardly dared breathe across the plain, as if it to, was hiding from the impending natural disaster. It was the calm before the storm.
Only one creature stirred without care of the sense of death that seemed to descend upon the lands. She had a place to shelter her, so that the storm could not reach her; a cave, about three miles south of the Great Plain, on the western edge of the forest. It had a relatively small mouth, at least for her. For any other creature, it would have been huge, and swallow them into darkness. But she was a dragon, and probably the last of her kind. Most of the animals residing here seemed to be canine in some way. And she had even seen a bull somewhere. A flea-bitten lot if you ask her. She longed for another of her kind; another dragon to soar the skies with. But there were none, and for all intensive purposes, mainly ruling over the other creatures-all of which were smaller than her- it was fine.
With a wingspan of 172 feet, from tip to tip. A full height of 136 feet from ground to top of skull. And a full length of 154 feet, she was most definitely the biggest living thing in these lands. Her scales were the color of charred metal, with a silver undertone that really showed off her compacted muscles. The dragon had a serpentine, long body with a long tail and neck. On the end of her lethal tail is a spiked tip. She has slender limbs with three closely-mounted digits on each foot that end in short claws, and one on the opposite side; resembling a bird's foot. She has graceful, narrow-set wings running from its shoulders to its lower back. They can be used as a scare tactic, flaring out to nearly triple her size. She has a narrowly-formed skull, with two mirror-like eyes that are a steel-gray. With no visible ears, and a mane of bony spikes that sprout from the back of her head. Her teeth are sharpened to razor-blade points, and hold a fatal venom that is injected into anything she bites. The venom works slowly, causing the creature bitten to die a slow and painful death. Armed with these natural defenses, and her extreme intelligence, she isn't afraid of anything.
Her wings pumped up and down in a slow rhythm, carrying her great mass easily through the skies. Her gaze scoured the area, looking for anything that could be considered prey. While others munched on squirrels, she had to find large game. Those nasty little furry creatures couldn't satisfy an ounce of her hunger. And nor would she ever eat one again. While they made for good food when she was just a wyrmling, they served no purpose but to annoy her now. Stretching her wings out gracefully, she let herself glide on a cool air current. Circumnavigating the heavens, she came back around to search the plain again. There never was much food for her in these lands. So shy did she bother to stay? Because she considered herself the ruler of this part of the earth. All the other creatures that had smart minds were way smaller than her, so she didn't fear them. But she wasn't rude about how she acted, unless they intruded upon her territory. Which at the moment, only consisted of the cave that wasn't even in the Great Plain area.
The sclera, or "white" of her eyes was actually a dazzling steel color, with a contrasting black iris. To the casual observer, her pupils always look like vertical slits. If one were to look very closely, however, one could see a second iris and pupil within the first. She could shift and rotate this inner aperture up to 90 degrees, so that the inner pupil can overlay the outer one or lie at a right angle to it. This ocular structure gave her extremely accurate depth perception and focusing ability no matter how much, or how little, light was available. She used this to her advantage, and is the reason she could live in the darkness of the cave she called home.
Angling her wings, she came in for a slow dive to the earth. Forelimbs outstretched, she landed smoothly, her claws sliding only a few feet in the grass before she came to a stop. Now on the ground, she lifted her left wing, tucking her head under it to pluck out a dead sparrow that had been annoying her for awhile. Folding up her wings, she lay them neatly against her side. Then, lowering her skull, she gave her great body a good shake to clear it of the feeling of flying. Narrowed optics gazed around for the third time, their search still fruitless. Was there any food here at all?

The fox-like demon stalked through the plains, chills flowing up and down her spine continuously as the storm continued to near the great island. Her maroon eyes scanned the area, her vertical pupils dialating to adjust to the dim light. This ain't half bad, I should have my room dimmed like this. She had a very off topic thought. Why? Because, she had just recently risen to power, meaning she needed to re-decorate.
Spotting something awfully large in the distance, she padded towards it, her tails nearly dragging on the ground. It'd be nice if there was some wind, its tireing having to lift my tails all the time. They're so poofy and heavy... She began to complain inside her head, forgetting why she had started off in that direction, until it was too late.
She stopped near what appeared to be a rock and looked up. Towering above her was a great dragon, one of her favorite creatures. Her top favorite was the fox, but that didn't matter right now. She gave a sort of bow, fanning her tails out upon the ground. Why hello there, great dragon. She called politely, not wanting to insult the majestic beast. I am Muerte, Kage of the Darks. Who might you be? Standing up from her bow, the lifted her tails in a slow, wave-like motion as she looked up at the dragon, awaiting a reply.
//I think I'm getting my Muerte muse back! ^^//

The dragon simply stared down at the fox before her. It wasn't in a challenging or snobby way, she was just staring in wonder at the size of the creature. She was tiny compared to Raptros. But then again, wasn't almost everything? Lowering her skull, she brought it level with the fox. She almost giggled as she realized that the canid was about half the size of her skull. But again, it wasn't meant to be condescending. Just as an amusing fact. And that it was to the dragon. Figuring that the best way to talk to the Kage would be to lay down, the dragon did so. Carefully she settled her serpentine frame to the earth.
Greetings, Muerte. I am Raptros.
The reptilian ascendant left out the fact that she wasn't a part of either side. And that she also didn't really care about their ranks, as they meant nothing to her. The only way to earn her respect was to work for it by showing her that you could be trusted. Shifting her weight, her huge tail swept the ground behind her as she moved. Opening her wings, she flared them out wide, then beat them a couple times, providing a cooling draft for a few seconds. Then she folded them back, and returned her attention to the many-tailed fox before her. Quietly, she awaited a response of any kind.

She lowrered her head for a moment, her eyes locking with the dragon's pupils, which was the best she could do. Nice to meet you, Raptros. She said, performing a sort of bow. She dug her claws into the earth as her fur was farced backwars by the large wings. She shook herself like she had just gotten out of a body of water and stood up, small smile at the edge of her lips.
Looking at the sky, the chills began once more, feeling like a human petting her continuously, back and fort, back and forth. So, what brings you here on a day like this? She rather liked the weather, but the chills continued, a mere warning of what was to come. She lowered herself to the ground, wapping four tails on either side and placing one upon her back. She crossed her paws, her eyes sparkling with true interest for the first time in ages.
